Anyone know where to get a wiring diagram for a 1971-72 454? 12Volt system.
Thanks!

Galen, I was reading the replies and saw where you are using an I T manual, in my opinion the IT manuals are just about the biggest joke there is. You need to find either an original manual for you tractor or contact binder books for an exact reproduction, I don't have the website for them but you should be able to do a google search for binderbooks.

Galen: If you can find an original IH operators manual for your tractor they had excellent wiring diagrams. In saying that I should point out my experience has been with American built Tractors.

I'm not sure just where that 454 fits, it was probably assembled in the US, however some components are British. I think some were also completely manufactured in Britain. Around that time frame British manufactured IH used different electrical components than the US assembled units. You may want to watch that one no matter where you get a wiring diagram.

Mine has a "U" in the serial number - I'm told that the U's were assembled in Kentucky and the B's were Doncaster. Have no idea as to year (serial number: I-454 2210124U003540*), but I THINK it's a 71.

Galen: I guess your looking at the numbers following the U, certainly not the 7 digets prior to the U. I would call it a 1971. So it probably has a Delco system thus a US IH operators manual should give you what you want. Binder Books will have those.

Look through the Research and Info Forum on this site. I got several wiring diagrams from here for different tractors. If no luck just google what you want.

Galen:

I haven't had alot of luck looking stuff like that up online. Our local library has older chiltons books, yours probably does also. I was in a half price books a while back and they had some older chiltos also. Aren't you over SW of Omaha?? There is also a used record/bokstore in Council Bluffs called Kanesville, they might have something like that.

I'm about 65 miles straight south of Sapp Brothers Truck stop on I-80 in SW Omaha (or 35 miles straight west of Rockport Missouri). My IT manual doesn't even have a diagram!
