Finally got into my H transmission.... OUCH!!! the coupler up front is what broke... but.. not a gear or bearing is good in the transmission. the constant mesh gear has 9 teeth left on it, the rest of them are wore out so bad i dont see how it moved. the mainshafts have basically no splines left at all, they are about 1/100th of an inch wide, just enough to somehow let the gears catch a little. the bearings are absolutely shot, also somehow just enough to let things turn. the bull gears and all in back look excellent. SO..... ive got it in my head to rebuild this puppy, though maybe not worth it, i want the learning experience. i am looking for a good source of really good used gears (probably not worth new?) and the bearings. i need it all. lol. any ideas? thanks in advance.

When our trans went on our H, we went to the salvage yard and found a good rear and just put the whole rear on our"s. It saves a lot of time and worries. Sometimes you don"t get all the pieces out and it gives you problems down the road. and in your case pieces could be a big problem. H"s are a dime a dozen so it shouldn"t be hard to find another rear. Hope this helps

Just put a add in the classifieds here. There are about a kazillion H's out there. I needed gears for my 400 put a add on here got about 30 re:s.
Ranging from $150 a gear to all 5 I needed for $100.
I bet you can get all the gears and shafts for about $200 and the guy would be glad to get it.

I sold one to a person in Lebanon, IN 2 weeks ago that only wanted the motor. The transmission looked good to me.

I saw an ad in the classifieds a little time back on a really nice set of gears for sale. The person is Rob in Cowgill, MO and phone 660-255-4551. You might try contacting him as he has had a lot of H parts for sale in the past. You can't go wrong with the Nebraska Cowman who might have some good ones. Contact Howard through his email at "howster@nebnet.net". He certainly won't send you anything you can't use. Hope this helps.

I know where there's one sitting, but if you ain't in Michigan this info won't do you any good.

It's been there awhile, gas tank gone, carb gone, hood gone...should be purty cheap.

You might look for a junker with a bad engine and bad sheet metal. Most of them have good gears.

Check out ebay for the gears. Do a search for farmall h. There is a lower set on there now, current bid $49.95. And a coupler with no bids @ $9.95
