I need to remove the crankshaft from an F-20 block. Are the bearings removable with the crankshaft, or do they removed seprate. If they are removable with the crankshaft, does it come out in front of the block or behind the block. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Joe Dekeyrel

If you will send me your e-mail address I will e-mail you a copy of the information with illustrations from the Serviceman's Guide/Shop Service Manual for removing and replacing the F20 crankshaft.

If I remember right, you have to remove the flywheel. You will need a heavy duty puller to pull it. The flywheel will twist up a chinese puller. The rear main bearing cap bolts can then be removed. Remove the timing cover and the front bearing carrier bolts. The front carrier is pretty delicate so you will have to be careful when you tap it. Try to avoid hitting the ears as they will break off with even the lightest blow. You will want to tap the end of the crank and front carrier cap so you can drop the crank out. It is easier if you can set the block vertically with the crank nose pointing up. The whole crank comes out the back of the block. I have the bearing numbers somewhere if you need them. Expect to spend $200-300 for the bearings.
