It has been a long time comming, but I have half of the new shop floor poured, 7in of concrete and hot water heat in the floor. I might get this thing up before snow yet! I just need to brag a little, 40X60X16. I know it will be too small but it`s all of the $$$$ I have to spend.

Sounds good, we started on the new one a couple years ago, 40X70X12, with at least 2000 feet of tubing in the floor for heat, just love it, finally got the finishing touches done on it, just love to be able to tear something apart and wait a few weeks for parts and still have enough room to work on other things. I might put a set back thermostat in there for this winter with the propane going to be so pricey, have enough for the winer in the 1000 gallon tank but might not be a bad idea anyway.

I built a 40x60 up here in SD a few years ago. Well insulated. 12 foot ceiling. I installed a propane hanging heater.Reznor. BIG ONE. My heat bill for the entire winter, keeping the shop at least 48 degrees at night , higher during day. was just about 400 dollars. If you are in the colder climates, strongly consider using the low temp, hi output florescent lights (100 watt). I I put 12 of them up, wired 3 at a switch. The place looks like a photo studio when it's lit up. Then the bathroom and shower went in. Then a little kitchen, and a spot for a bed. That took up romm I could have 3 more tractors in!

504,
Working on building a 30 x 60 x 14 shop. Contractor screwed up the footers. Concrete was too stiff, truck ran out of water, driver put the truck in the ditch (Had to tow it out with a skidder), and came close to turning the truck over twice (in my humble opinion). Concrete plant now has agreed to furnish concrete to cap the footer and make it right. Just had to get to the right people to fix the problem. Hope to have it closed in this fall. Hard to make any progress when one is two hours away. Plan to pour the floor next year.
Enjoy your garage!
David

To small? compared to mine it's huge. Mine is 36x20x14, wish I had installed tubing in my floor to. Your going to enjoy filling it up with must have uneeded junk. LOL.

We are building a house right now and the other day I was trying to figure what cost more. Concrete at about $72 a yard or gas at $3 a gal. I'm not sure what formula to use but I think concrete would be cheaper per gal. than gas. Either way they are both way out of line.

Concrete @$72 cu.yd. = about 36 cents/gallon. Sounds pretty cheap that way, doesn't it?

You are right! book it soon! here in Iowa we are over $80/cy now and still rising. But, considering alternative floors, Concrete is cheap still and lasts a lifetime. like my friend says, "if asphalt is so darn good, why don't they build bridges out of it?" imagine that!!! Anyhow, my shop is 24 x 50 and could be twice that size and not big enuf!
