I had to deliver two of my grand-daughters (ages 3 + 5) back to their mommy today. They have been with grandma and grandpa since mid June. Grandma had to work today so I set off by myself on the 210 mile trip to meet mommy in Big Springs,Ne. Anyway,I decided to take Old # 30 back to Grand Island, and then home. I had a great trip! No traffic,no hassle, and it only took about 20 minutes longer. We have a kinda pretty state here when you get off of the interstate.I'm still grinning, and I did see a lot of old tractors along the way.John.

What do you mean, "kind of pretty", as far as I'm concerned, the sun rises and sets on the High Plains. And there is nothing better than the Flint Hills in Kansas, or the Sandhills of Nebraska when it comes to cattle country, and the farming country is second to none.
You couldn't pay me, (and some have tried), to live east of the 95th degree of West Longitude.
This is the REAL America, (with the exception of certain areas of California).

I often suggest to folks on their way west to take the "L" Street exit off I-80 in Omaha and take highway 92 for about the next 400 miles or so west, or until they are straight north of Ogalalla, then cross the Kingsley Dam on their way back down to I-80. Thsi saves miles, gas and takes about the same time as staying on boring old I-80. This route lets one really see the Cornhusker State.

I hauled a load from laredo to cheyenne back in march and had to go through dallas so I ran up to I135 and followed the US route on up to 6 then took it over to minden to jump up to 80. Also got to take the detour when I80 was washed out a couple years ago at Ogalalla. Wish I had the money to explore. I'd like to run harvest someday but I have a problem with the molds that grow on soybeans, and there's not going to be much of a harvest this year according to a guy I talked to in kansas. Anyhow, if the nazi's in harrisburg get much worse there's lots of places out there I wouldn't mind moving to.
