I am looking for my very first tractor. I was looking at an IH B275 today. Everything seems tight, no significant leaks, no smoke, responsive power. Being that I am not all that mechanically inclined I was wondering about a couple years down the road. Will this tractor be user friendly for a tractor rookie? i will mostly be using it for snow blowing with a 75" blower, seeding, and general yard maintenance. Any thoughts on this tractor would be appreciated.

These were durable little tractors, or at least the diesels were. Quite simple and easy to repair. They are however not great starters in cold weather. Go to a block heater, all tractors should have that anyhow, you'll save the cost on engine maintainence.

Check back in archives. 'B' in B275 indicates British made, minor variations from American made. Parts are available with a couple days extra ship time. B models noted as imported to Canada, then Northeast US, New Orleans port of entry for Southeast US, rest of country got the tractors informally. Diesel versions noted as Lucas glowplugs-follow wait and heat starting drill before useing starter. Bs had 3pt hitch arms instead of 2pt fasthitch. No major problems noted, parts lookup needs to get right book, Lucas electrics parts to be specified for replacements. Hardware, nuts and bolts, check fit don't mix american standard with later metric.
