Super-c valve problem

I have a problem I hope someone canhelp with.

I got a rebuild kit, and service manuals from here on the site.

I took the head down to a machine shop, the guy there said that exhaust valve springs were different than intake on the head, and the kit didn't match.

He also said the head had rotators on the exhaust valves and he thought the new springs would bind with the rotator caps on them.

I also can't seem to find the spring test specs, or rather my manual has three different ones for the 123 engine, and they vary a lot.

Is there anyone out there who has had this problem before?

I'm tempted to just use the old exhaust springs and rotators and hope for the best.

My IH manual says the exhaust valve springs used with the rotocaps should have a free length of 2 9/64". Hal

I would check to make sure the old springs are within a couple of pounds of each other at the installed closed length (with rotators). install one, measure installed length, then compress them to that length on a scale. (or have them checked) If they are close, and if they stand straight when on the bench (do not lean over more than 1/16" measured top to bottom), and if they all stand to the same height within 1/32", I'd use them with out hesitation. At under 2000 rpm, it doesn't take much of a spring to pull the valve shut reliably. Heavy springs can wear cams, lifters, and rockers. Good for racing, bad for long life at normal speeds. Use the rotors, they keep the wear even around the valve face, and add life span to the rebuild.
