Well, life is difficult. Eight months of cleaning and painting and then started thinking about starting the M. Motor is not frozen but something is wrong. With the hand crank I can get the crank shaft to move some but it will not turn completely over.

Took the starter off and can get the flywheel to move some but not much. Almost like somelthling is binding the flywheel.

When I take the pan off can I then see what might be binding? Can not think of what it could be but if you guys have some ideas please let me know.

I just had the same problem. I did what Stu in njo suggested and after about ten days I was able to turn the engine over by hand. Rust in the cylinders.

Has your clutch become stuck? Is your transmission stuck in two gears at the same time? Both are possible if it's been sitting for a length of time. You could also have an intake or exhaust valve stuck. I would check these things out before checking the lower end. Did it turn over before the work?

It was running before. I think you are right. It is stuck in gear.

Post a picture of what you think the problem is.
Is it a broken or bent connecting rod? You should pull the head and look for a broken valve.

Befor I droped the pan I would pull the plugs and spray a good rust buster in all cylinders sounds like some rust in there is binding it up. Keep moveing flywheel back & forth. Hope this helps. Stu
