IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES. THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1st HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THESE TWO NATIONS SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU C! AN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT. WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO? REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE

SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT

AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

Count me in, although I'm not sure how much effect it will have, it's better than doing nothing. Also how about picking one of the largest companies and when you DO buy gas, make sure to never buy from that company. If a large number of people stop buying that brand and always buy other brands I think that might have more impact. As weeks and months of lower sales are recorded, someone in that company will pay attention.

The only truth in your message is that driving has to be reduced. The Sept 1 thing is about a tenth of a drop in the bucket (or gas tank). The demand has to be reduced to coincide with the supply. OPEC doesn't control the price of oil, they are running almost at capacity anyway. The prices are determined by the traders on the futures markets, etc, which are related loosely to the actual supply and demand. High gasoline prices are here to stay, hopefully not long term at $3-$4 gallon. When the refineries get back on line, days, weeks, or months from now, the prices will stabilize and should go down, hopefully to the $2.50 range, barring another cat 5 hurricane. If that happens, bicycle sales are going up. Higher prices should allow the extraction of the hard to get to oil, such as that in Canada. They will also allow for more alternate energy sources, hopefully before we all buy bicycles.

Despite your shouting it, your calculations are completely false. It would only work if people stopped using gasoline for a while, not just buying it the day before or the day after.
Until you get the Chinese to participate, any such demonstration is a complete waste of time.

Gas jumped 20 cents per litre here in Ontario this morning. I was out driving before the sun came up and some stations were still at 99.6 and many had jumped to 1.19 per litre. Traveled the same route home at 6 pm and most were down to 104 per litre,,,,, ,,,,, crazy. I drive a gasoline tanker for a living and still can't seem to figure out the logic in the pricing, all over the place. Thinking soon I may have to get a body guard to ride with me if prices continue to be crazy..... .....

ain't gonna work or happen.so you don't buy for that one day, sure they have stockpiles, but what do they care.you WILL need it and the next day you go in i guarantee it will be higher, just to spite us for thinking we can control the price.if your gonna get everybody to not buy, it better be for at least a week or two
