I have a Farmall "H" that has been used on the farm for years then set in a barn for 4 to 5 years. This tractor runs good but the engine is cover with oil and field dirt. What is the best way to remove the years of dirt and oil and grease easley.

Not many people have access to a steam cleaner, it would be nice if you do. YOu might be able to rent one. Scraping the chunks off, oven cleaner, then pressure washing and repeating several times along with more scraping will get it off. If you are painting and want to strip the tractor first, the removal of the crud is not nearly as time consuming as the necessary wire brushing with a drill or angle grinder, etc to get the chassis in shape to paint. That needs to be done to ensure paint adhesion.

A good steam jenny would do a good job using a good commerical detergent. It will still require
a lot putty knife useage and brushing where there's alot of buildup of grease and dirt. Wear a good face shield when using a steam jenny for eye and face protection. Hal
