Farmall 200 steering leak

My farmall 200 with a wide front end leaks oil behind the universal joint where the shaft enters the front casting of the tractor. Is there a seal right there? Where do you check the oil? Thanks

Forgot to tell you. To check the level in the steering box, grill must be removed. There is a level plug, a fill plug and a drain plug behind the grill on the steering box.

I think the 200 is the same as the C and Super C. There is a seal in front of the universal joint on the steering shaft where the shaft goes into the steering gear housing (front bolster). There is also a bushing there. If there is any play side to side/up and down in the worm shaft, then the bushing needs replacing too. To replace, punch the roll pin out of the universal joint where it is attached to the shaft going into the steering box. Then take the bearing loose on the side of the tractor that supports the shaft that goes up to the steering wheel. Then pull the universal joint off the worm shaft at the steering box. There is a woodruff key there you must get out of it's slot in the shaft. Getting the universal off the worm shaft can be a chore. Take the grill off. Remove the plug with the hex on it from the front of the steering box. Now you can screw the worm gear and shaft (all one piece) with bearing out the front of the steering box. You may want to drain the oil out of the steering box first to avoid the mess as much as possible. Now you can pop the old seal out and pull the bushing out and replace them. My experience that seal is a bugger to get in straight. I've ruined a couple of them. You need a good flat tool to press it in with and make sure it is square with the opening. Check the ball bearing on the worm shaft to make sure it has no play. If it does, replace it to tighten up your steering. I probably left out something. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

Is it "steering fluid" or motor oil leaking? I don"t know much about the steering (I just got my 200) but right behind the "steering box" is the front crank seal. They are a common leak. I just replaced mine two weeks ago.
