I have a early H in which the valves are longer in length then most heads i have seen, the question is the combustion chamber smaller or is the Head taller over all, It written in the parts that i can't put step pistons in this tractor only flat top pistons the valves i have over a one eighth of a inch longer then what is listed.

Most of the compression increase comes from the gas head (~52cc smaller), not the dome on the piston (~21 cc larger). Using both the gas head and the domed piston raises the compression ratio to about 6.5:1.

I think the valves for the distillate (kerosene) heads are shorter than the gas ones? The cylinder heads should be the same size except for the combustion chamber- so the gas ones are much shallower than the distillate ones. There should be a casting number on top of the head to tell you what you have.

Thank you for the imformation, i was concerned that they was more then one gas head, as this tractor has always been a gas tractor, it had cast iron pistons and since it was a 41 i thought that maybe they had changed the gas head.

Richard.
