A week or two ago I asked opinions on how to modify a Regular rear end and tranny into a power transfer unit. With the good advice I got, here is the final result. That's the Regular in the tree that it's belted to. I'll now be ready when the Sorghum cane comes in in about 3-4 weeks! Thanks.

Neat. But why? And how much syrup do you plan on making?

We did it for the first time last year with the help of a neighbor who's been making it since '78. We had the same mill, but had the old mule beam tied to a '49 Cub. My mother and father-n-law took turns riding the cub in circles while my wife and I fed the mill. Need less to say that won't happen again! We got about 1 gallon of syrup, but that's what we expected off of a very small starter crop.

It's a lot better with my homemade biscuits, but it'll go good on pancakes as well! Probably harvest around Oct. 1st, grind and cook a week later. Unless we get an early frost, then I'll have to harvest early.

If OSHA ever inspects that, you better not let him get off the place, ever.
