Well after a summer spent pursuing other things on weekends when there wasn't hay to put up, I finally spent a Sunday afternoon just having fun. First off I took my kids to a neighbor's place where last spring I'd spotted the top part of a Model A Ford cowl sticking up out of the sand in a ravine. After a LOT of digging, hampered by woven wire, tin cans, and every other form of junk imbedded in the sand, I came up with what's apparantly a Model A roadster. The main body's pretty good, still on the frame, has front fenders/running boards...someone apparantly removed the rear part of the body to make a "pickup" out of it, but what's there ought to bring a few bucks on ebay....;) Secondly, and more "on-topic", I finally took my F-20 for a spin. After a 4-year valve job(always other stuff needed doing) I finally got it back together this summer. A few may remember my post about carb problems. Well, the float bowl being half full of rust turned out to be the culprit there(and I'd just had the carb apart not long before the valve job began). Some cleaning and a carb kit and it runs like new. Pulled our road drag down our mile and a half of gravel lane without missing a beat, other than the flat fan belt almost self-destructing....gonna have to find one of those. But it sure was great to hear it hitting on all 4, growling merrily along and obviously enjoying itself after a long siesta....All in all, a good day! And it's still light out!
