I've about had it with leakes, the power steering gear box leakes like a seive on my IH 350 utility. What are the chances of it working as arm strong power steering if I disconnect the lines. To be truthful I can never tell if it is working anyway

THe Ute's steering box is not happy with running w/o pressure. When it is working correctly, it is sweet. The exterior seals are Motion industries parts The arms come off with a puller, and the seals will come out if you yse three sheet metal screws in smaller drilled holes to pull on. other leaks get deeper into the cylinder, but can be made or matched up at the above store. They steer like a slab of concrete without pressure.

I imagine that you could unhook it, but you won't like it. Give me some more info. Where exactly is the box leaking ? Does it work well except for the leaking ?

Hey Don,
My 350 rowcrop, originally, had a Behlens steering valve on it. Someone before me converted it to a Char-Lynn with an automotive pump.
Not sure about the 350 ute, but I beleive that if the power steering is not working, it's basically back to manual. I hear ya' about leaks - just replaced an axle seal. What a pain!!
Sometimes I wonder if the EPA is gonna show up in hazmat suits and charge me to clean up the darned shed where I park mah tractor!!
