Jeff: You are right fill plug on top. Wrong on fill to level plug, It is on left side of transmission case, directly below front end of left fender. Usually right behind pull rod for left brake. the large plug you see just to right of pto is actually drain plug. The pto and belt pulley are lubricated from the transmission. There is a device called a slinger puts oil up there and excess runs back through an overflow.Use gear oil 90W and tractors without pto and belt pulley take 4 qts., with pto and belt pulley 5 qts. I keep about a qt. over in mine, been doing that for years. Bear in mind the final drives have separate compartments from transmission. They are filled through plug and to the plug on inside and near front of final drive. again gear oil 90W and 3 pts. each. Steering box gear oil 90W, 1 qt. The htdraulic system holds 8-1/4 pts when new, refills will be 6-3/4 pts. Use hy tran only. Always fill hydraulic system with roch shaft arms in rear position. The fill is the level. The fill- level plug, drain plug and screen or filter are all on left side of touch control unit. The screen is that rounded square plate held in by 4 small bolts. By the way the rad holds 15 qts. and fuel tank 11 gal. These capacities are all US measure. Crankcase holds 5 qts. and don't forget breather cup at 7/8 pt. of motor oil. Your father in law likely had a manual, get your hands on it. very valuable
