On my Super C the operating lever pin has broken inside my controle valve. Can I pull the control valve all the way out and then put it back in without taking the touch control unit apart. It would make drilling the pin out easier. thanks MM

I have a C and had to replace the O rings on the control valves due to a puddle of hydaulic fluid that suddenly appeared under the tractor. Tryed to do it with the unit on the tractor. That may be possible, but I did not find a way. Removed the unit and then it is an easy job. The valves just pull out once the connections are loose.

MM_TX, Yes. Remove the control valve from the rockshaft end. Reinstall from the rockshaft end. (You don't install from the head end because the o-rings would be cut.) John

MM, I believe you can pull the control valve out without removing the entire unit. Not 100% sure because I rebuilt mine off of the tractor, but I believe you have enough room before the control rod hits the clutch housing.

Thanks Scotty. The unit is off so there is room. What I'm trying to figure out is if I pull the control valve out from the rockshaft side (without opening it up) will everything stay in place so that it can go back in without opening it up? The parts cat doesn't show it that I can find, The Blue Ribbon handbook looks like there is only one O-ring. any advice is appreciated MM

You might have the Blue Ribbon Service handbook, GSS-1024. It is dedicated solely to the Touch Control unit. If you do, on page 16 about 3" down a paragraph states to "never install control valves (48) from the cylinder head end of the block. Alwasys install the cylinder head before installing the control valves". From this statement it appears they are installed from the rockshaft or front of the unit.
The exploded views in the handbook really doesn't show the o-rings or quantity needed. You will probably determine this on disassembly. I have never had a touch control unit apart myself.
Good luck and hopes this helps. Hal
