Does anyone know how may grease zerks are on an H? I can only find 5. Front, both back wheels, one on clutch lever forward and one on the right side in the middle. Out of those 5, I have three that are plugged. I took them out and tried soaking them in gas and poking a small wire through them. No luck. Is there a trick or should I just go buy new ones. Thanks.

There may be a zerk on the drawbar roller. One of my Ms has one there.

You can buy a small pen-type tool online that clears blocked zerks.Use put in some light oil and it acts like a piston to force the light oil into the zerk and (hopefully) soften the dried grease.Sure would be easier than removing them all and changing them (what if some broke off flush?).

Grease zerks are not that expensive, just get new ones. You might also want to get an owners manual, it will show you where all those zerks are at.

Underneath the front end you'll find a zerk to grease the starting crank assembly.

Don't forget the ones on the water pump. My M's have two.

Wouldn't it be easier to just replace the old Zerk fittings? I have a few that have the problem of the grease conduit being plugged. The zerk is fine, but it still does not take grease.

There is one for the throw out bearing, one in the flywheel, one under the throtle on the steering shaft, one in the u-joint in middle of steering shaft and probably one or two i have forgotten.

Do you have grease zerks up by the fan and on the steering shaft. I do know that I have some there and maybe more. not sure with out checking. I think I have like 10 or so zerks on my MD. I would probably be easier to go and pick up some new zerks than trying to clean them. That is if you can get them out. LOL

Almost impossible to clean them, as they have a itty bitty ball in the end of them for a check valve to keep the grease from coming back out. Once in awhile one will lose the ball and you will see grease coming back out in a small stream after you remove the greasegun. There should be between 8 and 10, according to each individual tractor. Some of the old ones didn"t have a check ball and were straight through open holes. I always replace these when I find them with the new style.
