What is the best way to repair the front axle where the steering arms attach to the spindles, when the splines are worn? On the 66 series

A quick fix that works is JB weld. Take the arms off and clean up the arms and spines. Put the JD Weld on the arm and put it onto the spindle. Put the nut on finger tight. Let them cure for 24 hours. Then tighten the nuts up. We have a 1066 that I did the spindles over 5 years ago that the arms are still tight on.

Mike: I fixed these on my 1066 with shim stock, probably about .002" to .003" thick. It worked well. Put the shim stock right around splined spindle shaft. Drive the control arm on with hammer, tighten the nut to about 300 ft lbs. It stayed tight for more hours of service than when new.

Don't know the company making them but their is someone who is making a replacement arm that is a few thousands over sized. I put a set on my 1086 supplied by a local repair shop. Monday I can find out where he got them. They worked great.

I sould've said a few thousands under sized so fit tighter on your spindle. Sorry
