I have a Farmall 130 and the first numbers on the serial # is worn off except for 949J. I went to buy the correct Battery cables and box, but the parts person needs the full serial number. Can someone help me determine the correct cables and battery box and if possible post a picture of the correct location to ground. The tractor has hydraulics.
Thanks in advance Joe

Probably all that is lost off the serial number is a prefix for the model or some such. 949 is probably the entire serial number.

The last 130 was 10209, so all that can possibly be missing is one digit.

Joe: Better get a new parts man, those cables and box are the same on all 100, 130 or 140.

I was told many years ago that serial numbers on aluminum can be recovered. This was in connection with stamped numbers on Harley-Davidson crankcases that have been ground off and stamped over. Unfortunately, I do not know the process but I think it might be chemical. I suppose the information might be available somewhere on the internet. My google search would start wilh "recovered serial numbers"
