still having trouble locating lockout bolt, looked around shifter but didn"t see a bolt other than platform bolts

Toward front of tractor and little to left of the gear shift center line.On W-4 the steering box may be over it.Like John M posted its in a
hole like top cover bolts but has 9/16 inch head.
Sometimes they rust until the bolt head is partly unreconizable.

I'd start taking out bolts around the shifter until u find the right one.

If I remember right, the bolt is just in front of and left of the shifter and is "countersunk", for lack of a better word, into the casting.It may be full of dirt and thats why you cnat find it.

Roughly behind the left front bolt that holds the trans cover on. You may be confusing it with one of the cover bolts.

Just curious - When you take one of these lockout bolts out do you have to put in a plug of some sort to stop up the hole?

Yes, replace the lockout bolt with a short cap screw/bolt. If you don't put something in the hole you will leave an opening for water and debris to enter directly into your transmission case.

My Operators Manual says to replace it with a3/8 by3/4 cap screw. LOL.W4
