I finally got my 300 running, with help from my dad. Started messing with the T/A, my grandpa took the LEVER off when my dad was about 15. What is happening is the same thing that was happening 30 years ago. It runs fine in high then when we shift into low it will run in that, but when I did a 180 in the street with it in low, it stopped. Any ideas?

With the mechanical TA, if it slips in low, the ramp and rollers are shot. No amount of adjustment is going to solve that. Time for a new TA.

2 things you can do. SWR has rebuilt TA's.$399 I think. I have a link to them on my web site.
I have used them and works great.
You may also want to look at rebuilding the ramp and roller your self. I purchased one of those TA rebuild videos last year and it really is not any more work that the replacement with a rebuilt would be and you can get R done for about $30 in parts.

An experience with my MTA goes like this: Adjust the linkage on the torque. Put tractor in 5th gear and with foot on brakes, let clutch out slowly. If it holds, or tries to stall tractor problem solved. If not check for water in the oil. If so, block up front end for several days and drain front and rear of rear end of tractor. Get all of the contaminated oil out. Replace with Hy Trans oil from Case IH. Try above clutch trick again. If it slips then you need to replace the torque or use as is. Good luck and post back on results. Andy

The ramp and rollers sprage clutch is propably out. That means to fix it you will have to take the clutch houseing out and get the TA out of this section.
