My guess would be if you soak it in true carb cleaner overnight, it will be clean the next morning. If not you can carefully wire brush it.

Get you a gallon can of berryman carb. cleaner. It cost about $20.00. Take the carb apart, soak it a couple of days, wash it off, then blow it out with an air hose. If the carb has a lot of baked on "crud" outside, you can bet it,s inside too. a little costly, but well worth it in the long run.And as long as you keep the can sealed, it will last a long, long time.

I would look for a repair shop that has carburetor
cleaner or something similar and see if they will
soak your carburetor. Kleen Tec carburetor cleaner is very expensive, but if you could find
a shop that uses it, it would clean all that crud very well.

We used a pail of cleaner that had a nylon or plastic basket that you could lower your carburetor into the cleaner and easily removed it too. It was so potent it ate through the metal bucket after a few years. We just kept adding when it got low. Hal

If it's cast iron, and you have all springs and rubber parts removed, AND you get the wife or S.O. sent on a shopping trip, you can bake it in the oven for a couple of hours at 300 to 400 degrees. (I'm not responsible for what happens when SHE comes home, and notices the smell!)

The gunk will char and can easily be brushed off.

Or, instead of the oven trick, get some cheap sray oven clean from the dollar store, and hose it down a few times, until the lye in the oven cleaner disolves the gunk, and then clean it with warm soapy water, and dry thoroughly with compressed air. (Hopefully, the need for eye protection will be obvious!)
