Gentlemen, I am looking at purchasing a restored "66 1206 from a gentleman. This machine was restored 2 years ago and was gone through inside-out as well as front to rear by a very capable and knowledgable local (former IH) mechanic. The tractor doesn"t smoke a lick, even when put under a load. It is very smoothe, all gears and torque are good as well. By looking at the picture, is it worth $10,000??? Let me know your thoughts, good or bad. Thank you for your time.

I have my 1206, new motor, new clutch, torque, turbo, tires, misc new parts from being broke, all new seal in the rear. Pretty much been through everything except for the final drive. Minus the pulling parts, I have $19000 into the tractor including purchase price. $10000 seems like quite the deal if the tractor is totally restored. Be careful, really check it over.

They could have used the correct white along with the correct decals . So if that is not correct then what else is not done wright ?? Sorry i am so fussy but that is me and as far as spending the 10 grand to someone else and going by hearsay . I would rather by a rag and spend the whole winter Pulling one down to the running gears of a kaddyDID and DIY but then again that is me I just love the tear them down and throw the parts on the floor and see if i can make it run with less parts then it came with.

If the innards are like the out side is finished thts one nice tractor. You can kinda tell by looking at the outside that the inside workmanship is real squared away also, Im guessing.Real attention to detail.Had trouble with the picture at first but it was worth the figuring out.

After all that beautiful restoration they could have at least put the right Turbo decals on it.

He's not even getting his parts money back for that let alone what the tractor was worth before. If your comfortable that everything was done that he said I wouldn't waste any time paying & getting it home.
I gave my son a basket case 12ooh when he got out of HS. He has 4600 in the motor alone. The second winter a new clutch , TA , MCV valve and TA & steering pump. Than theirs the new radiator and about 2100 in other misc parts. We still have to go through the trans & rear before painting. I know Phil would lose money at 10000

That's sweat from all that horsepower.

If it's everything he says it is, it's a steal. Problem is, is it? Any written warranties on all that work? If there is buy it and don't look back.

Brother bought a "good running" 856 with a brand new clutch and TA installed by a "knowledable mechanic". The combo lasted about 6 hours, improper installation. The engine that the guy didn't touch has had 1500 hours added to the clock and still runs great.

The 1466 that MS was looking at with only 4800 hours @ $8000 might be the better deal.
