Hi guys I was wondering if you can turn a ring gear around to the other side on an H or not. The one is worn a little in one spot but it must have been changed once already becuase it has slots below the teeth looks like they made it like that for better ingauging or somthing. Also has any one done this lately how hard is it to keep it heated up and all that good stuff? JON

The ring gear will wear in two spots 180 degrees from each other, if it only has two bad spots you can rotate it 90 degrees. Heat the ring gear up with a torch evenly to get it to expand. To replace it, place it in an oven and heat to 500 degrees this will allow it to expand enough to slip back on HTH Rick

Yep if there are no broken teeth you can reverse them. Just take a fire wrench and heat the ring be running the flame around it, no need to get it red hot just hot enogh to expand it some. Take a punch and hammer and work around it when replacing heat it some more and tap it on working around it.

You can on your H MagMan. Did it on my H. Either rotate it 90 deg or flip it over as already explained.

Cheers!
