I've done a little tinkering on the H I got the other day, including tightening up the spring on the seat a bit. Back up a few days and my Dad said that the seat that came with my H was the one that was factory correct. I assured him that while he was correct, he was wrong when he said the seat on my M was not factory correct. I assured him that both were correct, and neither exclusive to either tractor. Anyways, enough with the small talk, I'm just curious as to which seat you lot prefer? This style that came on my H

or this style which is on my M?

Personally, I like the looks of the latter but prefer the function of the former better. I like the ability to adjust for weight and to tip it back for rain. The 'toolbox' I think is only good for bigger stuff.

Jay, the seat in the first picture was used on the M serial #501 to 9286, and on the H serial #15697 and up. The second style seat was used on the M serial #9287 and up and on the H serial #15698 and up.

The style on your M is much nicer to sit on and gives a much better ride. This is why most of the older style seats were replaced with the later style. There was an aftermarket attachment for the late style that allowed you to stand the seat up, or flip it clear over.

Oh? I haven't seen that kit. I don't need it anyways. These things are more for fun than work. I like the ride better on the seat I have on my M as well. What I don't like is that everything was wore out when I got it. A lot more stuff to buy to make it right.

They do wear out, a couple of mine were so sloppy when I bought the tractors that it was a job just to stay in the seat. I found the rubber bushings at Case-IH, not the whole shaft, just the bushings, maybe $1.50 for a pair? It's been a few years. The seat flipper thing is the same as what I believe was standard on the 350s and 450s.

I just rebuilt the seat on My Stage II Super H a month ago. Price on the rubber bushings has gone up a bit. The bushings for the shock absorber are $1 each times 4, the rubber bushings for the seat arm itself were $4.25 each times two so about $14 total including tax. Carter & Gruenwald had them all. They're local for Me so no shipping.
