Just to prove that I am not the correct police. This is my 1940 M. It started it's life looking just like any other M, but then went work for a county roads dept., and was forced to wear the appropriate YELLOW uniform. When I refurbished it I sort of compromised.

As our town goes from woodlands to development and the suburbanites fly along at 50 on our 30 MPH back road, sometimes I need to cross at a stretch that's bracketed by a couple of blind curves. I'm painting my H like that.

I, personally, am highly offended by this outlandish paint job. You should be shot. What are people going to think 50 years from now when they search the Archives looking for original paint schemes? You should be shot multiple times. If not that, at least banned from the Internet for life!

Seriously, it's an interesting combination. Kinda hard to look at in that bright light. Thank God there's not green on it!

Peabody: Man take it easy, "should be shot", those are quite harsh words. What ever is wrong with green paint? We all choose whatever color we want on our cars and trucks. Why not on our tractors? He is calling the tractor a Farmall model M, nothing false about that.

Rusty: In the past I have been accused of being critical of paint and colors. It wasn't so, I really don't care if folks paint them rainbow with polka dots.

I was actually critizing the guy for calling his H a Super or M a Super, can't remember which. Paint and model numbers or letters are two completely different issues. A lot of guys figure if they upgrade engine to Super series, they've created a Super. That is false and under the right circumstances a guy could be prosecuted for it, if someone wanted to push.

C'mon Rusty! Quit trying to slip a fast one by us! We all know that straight pipe ain't original on anything other than a SHDTA Turbo with a factory airconditioned cab, and it also appears that those aren't the correct bolts holding the wheel weights on!

All kidding aside- it looks great, interesting color combo! Seeing an M that isn't red is like seeing a Model T Ford that isn't black!

Actually, those are the original square head bolts holding the wheel weights on, they just got painted silver.

I've only been to one show, and there were dozens of M's all exactly identical. Had this one been there, it's the one I would have stopped and spent some time looking at. Something a little different is refreshing once in a while.

Good for you. Looks nice. The color scheme is unique.

Just make sure that you don't try to pass this paint scheme off as "FACTORY" as it is not that.....The "correct police" thank you.

I took this tractor to one show, several people wanted to know if it came from the factory painted that way. I explained that I had to remove about 15 layers of industrial yellow, at least one layer of highway orange, and then found the original red under all of that.

Oh now Rusty, come on admit it. That color is factory. It is called Canary Yellow, and it was used in Hodunk County, Iowa right after the War and if was painted right there in the Louisville plant and it was specified SPMRD. (Special purpose M, Road Department.) Kinda like the SHTALPGCSWF that Cowman has. Harley
