There is a old Farmall tractor at my friends house and I want to figure out what the year and model is. The only number I can find on it so far is on the front canister (air cleaner I believe)and it says D-50. Can anybody tell me what it is? Thanks.

Look on the left frame rail to find the serial number, If it is located near the tool box it is an F-20. If it is ahead by the radiator it is a regular. All regulars came with open gears on the steering but many were replaced with the closed box from a F-20

Is it somewhat similar to the one in the picture?

Thats close but it has rubber tires. The steering column does go over the top like that one. That is real close to the one I am trying to figure out. What year is this one? Thanks

I found that picture in the tractor photos section. It might be a 1936, don't remember. The same tractor would have been available with rubber tires, or the rubber tires could have been added later. The one in the photo is an F-20, F-30s looked nearly identical, and it is possible that yours is an even older Farmall Regular. They all look very similar to the untrained eye. On the left side of this page, under "galleries" click on tractor photos, and then do a search for Farmall F-20. Several pics available. Someone else will have to jump in here and talk about serial numbers and such.

If you go to Tractor Photos under the Galleries heading to the left of this page you should be able to find a picture similar to your friends tractor. Once it has been "semi" idenitifed then someone on this board will be able to assist you in locating the serial number. Once you have that then you can look up the make and serial number on the "Serial Numbers" link to the left of this page. Also, some of the major castings may have a date stamp on it such as 9*15*N. the 9*15 is for September 15th. The N refers to 1944. If you find a date code like this we can assist you with that too.
