On the Super A is the hydro system closed? I had to add fluid as it was quite low and didn't want to raise the plow, so I added up to the fill level, or just below as it asked to but I was sure it wasn't that low when I first brought her home. There is no fluid on the floor so I quess it was pretty darn low in the first place. I will keep an eye on it, but can it leak into anywhere else where iy wouldn't show?? Thanks as always.

If you decide to change the seal ask your dealer for a parts pictorial copy of your pump. Its a lot easier when you get a visual on how it comes apart.

It's a closed system. Keep an eye on the engine oil level, your hydraulic oil may be leaking into
the engine. Hal

Check the oil level in the crankcase. If it is leaking, it is leaking into the crankcase. The seal in the hydro pump would then have to be replaced.

How hard is it to repalce the seal to the hydro pump?

It is not a real difficult job. The hydro fluid needs to be drained. The tubing into the pump (2 bolts) needs to be removed, the pump removed from the block (2 more bolts). The pumb needs to be taken apart (2 bolts again). You can purchase the seal by itself or buy a pump rebuild kit which includes all the gaskets.

Sound pretty atraight forward...I'll check the levels and see if it is indeed leaking. Hope not...but at least you can work on these old gals without being a master mechanic.

Start-to-finish, 30-45 minutes, last time I did mine.
