Hey boys, hope you all have had a good summer and fall. We get busy and don't have much time for the computor during good weather. I have a 574 and the clutch is slipping in higher gears. There looks to be a little adjustment, is there ? Or am I putting a new clutch in, which I assume I will be. A side note, the 1066 made lif worth living this summer on the baler. I only threw around half the tools as last year. Thanks

Hi John, if the clutch pedal has 1/2 to 1" free travel then it is adjusted correctly. My experience with 454,495 & 684 when it starts slipping in 3rd or 4th High it is time to consider a clutch, pressure plate, bearings replacement and maybe turning the flywheel. Also if it slips to much you could damage the facing on the flywheel.

My 2 cents JB2

You can adjust the free travel only and if ya got around and inch of it then that is all you can do and if it is still slipping then it is time to split her and replace the clutch pressure plate and throw out bearing and GRIND the flywhell and recut the step to correct hight . Oh and don't forget the pilot bearing.
