I have been looking at the photo gallery of A and Super A tractors and all the seats seem different from mine. Mine has a pivot arm with the pivot up close to the pedals and a coil spring and shock absorber arrangement, kind of similar to my C. Very comfortable but a bearcat to get in and out of. As soon as I stand up to get off, the seat lifts to within about 4" of the steering wheel. I have to swing my leg over the steering wheel to dismount and with approaching old geezerhood this is getting tough. Is my seat original for this model year? I would appreciate some photos of the correct setup of anyone has any. Thanks.

Karl, like others said...a Monroe aftermarket seat. A lot of people like these better than the original but many people have also told me they like the original. You choice. Here is a picture for those who are not sure of what they have. This is a Monroe seat on a Farmall B.

Karl, YOu have a Monroe seat which was an aftermarket item, but available at many IH dealers. While aftermarket, it was dedicated to fit the offset Farmalls which included the A, B, BN and Super A. For the operator who was tired of getting bounced around from the original seat, the Monroe was a welcome replacement.

Hi Karl....I have a Super A with the same type seat. Never saw another Super A with that type seat and I just thought the previous owner "borrowed" the seat from another model tractor. Didn't realize it was a aftermarket seat. Yea, it's hard to get off. I sort of slide my left leg under the steering wheel before I get up. Not sure if this would work for you, but it's the only way I can get out/off. I made a step for the tractor so that getting up there is easier.

you have a monroe aftermarket. dad bought a super a new in 1950. used it 1 full day and went back to dealer and bought one. yes, they are a little more agravating to mount/dismount but they ride a world better when you are riding them 10-12 hours at a time. have the original mounted on a dispay frame. not very often you see a 55 year old seat actually used 1 day.

You sure do have an aftermarket seat and are you lucky. The factory type seat is the ruffest riding seat of any ever made. What ever you do KEEP the seat and work on your mounting and dismounting, maybe you can figure out a better way. Being so close to 70 myself I know what you are saying about old geezerhood. GOOD LUCK

You have some kind of aftermarket seat.

If you had an original, it would look just like the seat on a Farmall A, B, or BN.
