The manuals show a throttle control coming off of the governor linkage support. My linkage does not expose this lever. Mine was tied directly to the carb. Is this the way it is supposed to be on a Regular??

Are you saying that the linkages go directly from the throttle lever to the carburetor butterfly? That's not correct. It should go through the governor, otherwise the engine speed would not be controllable as the load behind the tractor changes. It would bog down and die as the load increases, or over-rev when the load decreases.

Ok, I have to correct myself here. The linkage seems to go to the back of the governor using one of those leather bellows simlar to what an F12 has. Is this just another version of the same thing, or is this taken from an F20 and put on this regular? Thanks.

yes, I agree, it sounds like the very popular aftermarket variable speed governor conversion.

what you have sounds like a heisler overide. do you have a lever on the side of the gas tank that runs to the govenor instead of the rod that runs over the gas tank? pg

Exactly!! When was this addition implemented. I was trying to restore the tractor to original specs.

the heisler over-ride was an aftermarket item. to get it back to original you need to put the throttle rod back-[over the gas tank with the mag rod] you may need to get a parts manual to see what i am talking about. may have to adjust carb again too. hope this helps. pg

It seems the governor housing would need to change also.

may have to get the piece that goes to the carb and the rod that connects to it also, that adjust the rpms. seems also when they add the over-ride , they replace the manifold too. they go through the hood like an f20. the regulars manifold goes down with a small muffler on it.[better get a parts manual]. pg

no, you dont have to change the housing. but when you take out the rod [hiesler] that adjusts the speed from the govenor housing, you have to put in a manual adjustment piece and connect it to the spring inside, then when its running, you can adjust the rpms. pg

OK, after going through the parts manual I finally figured that out. Thanks for the info.
