I rebuilt the carb. on my super m and ever since the rebuild fuel has been dripping from the hole on the underside of the carb. The kit i used was oem, not aftermarket. After removing the old retainer and packing, I replaced it with a felt plug and installed the new retainer. Of course I always shut off the fuel when not in use but I dont want to ruin the paint when im done w/ the restoration. How can I stop this dripping? Thanks

Remove the new needle valve and seat and throw it in the trash. Clean up the old needle valve and seat that you removed and install it in the carburetor. I don't know what the deal is with new needle valves, it's like playing russian roulette to find a good one.

Does the new float needle have a rubber tip?? If it does you might try this. Open it back up and then remove the float, drop the needle in to the seat after makeing sure the seat is good and tight. Then take a small hammer or something like it and tap on the needle a couple times. Doing that sort of sets the rubber tip on the needle to the seat and that may help with your problem.
