utility 350 troubles

I have begun to bushhog with a gas 350 utility that I have just gotten. It will do fine for about a hundred yards on level ground and then begins to chug and finally die out. Where should I begin to check for problems? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

without to much to go on my bet is on junk in the fuel. buy a screen for the top of the sediment bowl. If the gen is not charging, the bat might not have enough juice to keep it going.

Fuel first, then coil, then condenser.

Take the fuel line off at the carb (after shutting off the valve at the sediment bowl) put a basen under the carb and turn on the fuel (no sparks/flames etc.in the area) if fuel runs out in a steady stream the size of a sucker stick for 30 seconds, the problem is nor fuel to carb. there could be junk in the carb under the needle valve, or in the bottom of the float bowl. taking it off will check/clean that.

If the coil gets very hot, too hot to keep your hand on within 15 min. of starting, it is probably bad. when it quits see if there is a nice blue spark from the coil wire held (with an insulated tool) 1/4 inch from the block.

The condenser could be heat affected as well.

Buy the manual, and an old auto repair text book.

If its a gasser,there is a screen brass element where the fuel line screws into it,that could be crudded up as well.
