Yes, they had a second battery box under the seat. #62514D for serial numbers 501 to 149583 and #352787R91 for serial numbers 149584 and above. They are rare as hen"s teeth, even the ones that are still on salvage tractors are rotted out like every other battery box on a salvage tractor.
Here"s what I did on mine -- I bought two regular M battery boxes and put one under the gas tank in the usual location. I took a piece of 1/4" steel plate and cut out a plate to fit on top of the transmission cover and about 4" longer than the battery box (2" extra each side). Then I drilled holes to match the transmission cover bolts to mount the plate, and brazed short bolts on top of the plate to mount the under-gas-tank style battery box. Painted it all up and it looks great, I"ve had a lot of comments on how nice it looks, and nobody has ever noticed that it is not exactly "original". Brian

Rusty, a six volt battery was used in each box
and wired in series to make 12 volts.Geof in NY
correct on location of original box near seat.
