question about hitch for implements

I purchased a 1959, 35 hp, Farmall row crop gas tractor with a draw bar hitch only. I understand it can not use a three point hitch because there is no place for a 3-8 cylnder on the back of this tractor. Do I still need to have a two point hitch to be able to use implements? What implements can be used with this situation? or is it just good for tractor pulls and I need to sell it?

If your tractor has indentations in the rear axle castings, it is likely that a Saginaw will fit, but you will also need the brackets that clamp to the axles. Saginaw fits anything from a C to a 560, but I am not sure the 340 has the indentations, as fast hitch attached mainly to the differential housing. Measure the space between the indentations and call Saginaw and ask. The "no room for a cylinder" is immaterial since the cylinder(s) are mounted on the 3-point itself.

Raymond: It would help a great deal if we knew the model number or letter of this tractor. There are aftermarket hitches as Dave has suggested. These hitches do have limitations. What implements would you like to use with this tractor?

Try Saginaw for a 3 point conversion. Don't know if they have them for your tractor, but they might.

What model of Farmall would that be that has that much HP without hydraulics? A Farmall A is only 16 HP.

There are a lot of "pull behind" implements - trailer plows, pull behind brush hogs, discs, etc. You can also use old horse-drawn implements. There is also a variety of tractor-mounted implements made specifically for that tractor that uses manual lifting systems.

I don't think he said anything about "no hydraulics," only that the tractor just has a drawbar.

1959, Farmall, 35HP, rowcrop.... That could only be a Farmall 340. Unless of course he's got the year wrong, which is entirely plausible.

There are definitely plenty of trailing implements out there. You can do practically anything with a tow-behind rig, and in fact the vast majority of modern implements are simply pinned to the drawbar.
