Dave, I agree with Jim, so thats worth something aint it?? Actually, regardless if in series or paralell I hate to mix different rated and/or design batteries (I even prefer they be bought and installed as a matched set together) but certainly agree its more risky when in series. In paralell they are like 2 big electron banks sittin there ready to deliver amps to the load according to their rating/ability, but if badly mis matched, when the voltage drops excessivley lower on one (due to different ratings) it could become a load on the other it looks to me. In series I think something similar could happen, but the total starter load must pass through BOTH series batteries as Jim noted, and I dont like the sound of that cuz I forsee the potential of plate damage on the lighter one maybe?? Dont get me wrong, Im NOT sayin it wont work, but the thought of it would give me a lil haertburn. Still, its your tractor and your money so go with the flow I reckon.
