560 torque slipping on the high side?

Hello,

I just took my recently purchased 560 for a spin and the torque seems to be slipping on the high side. I tested it in forth gear. The low side of the torque will kill the engine but the high side slips. It also makes a growling sound when you shift it to the low side. It makes this sound if you are traveling in gear or simply sitting in neutral. Is it out of adjustment or junk?

The TA clutch is slipping. Also sounds as if the TA throwout bearing is going south. you can remove the tin cover in front of the belt pulley to have a look.

Hello,

How easy are these to change, adjust. I"m assuming you have to split the tractor to change the throwout bearing. If I could get the TA clutch to stop slipping I"ll just use it in the high side. I also think the Hy Tran has got quite a bit if water in it. Could that cause the slipping?

You first need to buy a suitable repair manual, then make a split at the clutch housing to repair the TA clutch. As the TA clutch is a dry clutch, contaminated oil has no effect on clutch performance, but will cause other problems. First step is to be sure the external clutch/TA linkages are adjusted properly.
