Have an H-4 system that has just been gone thru, new coil, points, cap, rotor, condensor, plugs wires, tractor ran great, parked it a month ago now it wont start, I had taken the coil wire from the cap and put a spark plug in it and got spark but none thru the cap, replaced the cap and roto today and still nothing, but spark at the coil, now 2 hours later I can;t even get the spark at the coil. I checked the rotor timing, the rotor is about 1/4 inch behind the no.1 tower when the mag trips, I tryed to move it ahead one tooth and no difference, like I said it worked great and all I did was park it. Do I need a priest for an exorcism? Any insight would be apprieciated.

My SA has done this several times and I have found that there is condensation in the mag. I blow the whole inside out with compressed air and away she goes. ----- Harold

Setting the position of the rotor does not involve faith (or Voodoo, for that matter), as there are timing marks on the little gears.

Here's a link to the Blue Ribbon Mag Service Manual, thanks to the Cub Collectors:

The rotor must line up with the tower when it fires. Take the three screws out and change the gear timing so the rotor is lined up on the tower when it gets ready to impulse. Are you sure you are on tdc and compression when #1 fires?

Pull the cover over the coil and use a flat blade screwdriver to check the magnetism in the mag's
magnets. This is what creates the spark when it passes the coil. If they're good they'll pull that screwdriver in quickly. If the pull is very weak you may another mag. Hal

Don't know if he still preaches, but MagMan is a mag expert.
Good luck
