What do you have to do so that the clutch releases smooth, rather than shaking and jumping everytime you let out on the clutch? i have tried adjusting the 3 bolts on the pressure plate different lengths? thanks

Sounds like an adjustment isn"t whats needed, But a removal of the clutch and pressure plate for a the very minimum a cleaning. Most times when a clutch is jerky on engagement it can be atributed to grease or oil on the faces of the plates and flywheel. Real question is from where did this contamination come.

There are no adjustments to remedy that problem. It is time for a new clutch plate, pressure plate, and you might want to have the flywheel resurfaced.

Reverse or forward? I blame a jumpy reverse on 4 pad clutches. foreward No idea.

If ya did not reface the flywheel when ya put in a 4 thru 8 pad then you are going to have problems one MUST GRIND THE FLYWHEEL and cut the step and have everything correct or it will be a jumpy clutch . and ya got to get them seated in .

If it is new, then use it a bunch. Starting in fifth and getting up to speed several times in a row (1 minute between starts) will warm it up pretty well. Doing this over a period of several days 3-4 times per day will either prove me correct, or make no change.
If it is old the treatment may improve the condition as well.
