i took my super m apart and cant figure out what size the rod bearings are. i dont thing it has ever been overhauled because it still has nasty scarred up 4 inch flat tops and it still has wires through the nuts on the main bearing caps. they dont have STD,.02,.10 or .20 stamped on them.all they say is Clevite Micro on one side, and 7 66 and then CB 422 M underneath the 7 66. any ideas as to what size they are?

Is there any paint on the edges of the rod inserts? Their sizes may have been color coded.

Those rod journals measured 2.548" & mains 2.808"
when new. The wire on the mains is safety wire.
Used by aircraft engines and tank engines too. Hal

That tells me that it was rebuilt somewhere around 1966 or so and it was common back then to go with flat tops for luggen power . I would say that they where std. but don't hold me to it as if it was me i would put a MIC to the crank to see if i needed to turn it and to make sure that it is still round and not and oval .

Did you look on the back side of the bearings?
They be the original inserts and may be Std.
Here's a toll free number for Clevite. You can find a dealer that sells Clevite in your area.
They would know what their numbers mean. Hal
