I have a 1949 or so Farmall H, which is set up with just one wheel on the front. I need a hydraulic loader for clearing corrals, so my question is this...is it advisable to attach one to this tractor? What kind? Any advice?

As long as you arent carring a heavy load with a 5ft wide bucketway up it should work ok. Now if you plan on carring a big round bale way up high like some think they have to do forget it. Loaders are a piece of equipmint that too often get abused its not wide front or narrow but the NUT BEHIND THE WHEEL.

I don't know that I have ever seen a loader o a tractor with a single front tire. I have seen lots of loaders on tractors with narrow fronts and they seem to wrok ok, just try to keep the load centered. Even a widefront tractor can become unstable when operating with the loader raised. If you go to a widefront you definitely want power steering ot a membership at the gym.

Vin,

We tried this back in the old days and it doesn't work.

Aside from the things the other fellas have touched on, you'll pop even high-ply tires like crazy.

A single just cannot handle the load you're gonna put it under loading out manure or moving hay.

My self I woill not have a tractor with loader and a trike front end. And with a single front wheel even the tire would be worked to hard. Find a wide front tractor for a loader.

Please don't Vin. Narrow fronts are bad enough. A single wheel with a loader, even in expert hands, is dangerous. Find a tractor with a wide front and preferably somewhat low center of gravity.
