Super M Questions

I saw a Super M today that has a serial number of 30XXX (don't know the exact number). It has the battery under the seat but doesn't have live hydraulics. Can live hydraulics be put on the tractor? If yes, does the tank fit in front of the post? Is there any thing on the tractor where corners are normally cut in restoring the Super M that I should check? What are the weak points on the Super M's? What is the standard rear tire?

Rectol you can put live hyd on and use the belly pump and don't need the unit under the tank. Most were done that way.

Also, does the Super M engine have a dipstick or do you check the oil like the Super H?

Hydraulics were optional. You could get a Stage II Super M with no hydraulics at all, a belly pump, or live hydraulics.

Anyway, IH didn't start putting dipsticks on tractors at the factory until the 450, or maybe even the 560. Unless the engine block is a replacement from a 450 or a combine, or the block was machined for it during a rebuild.
