Another angle of the sweet 52. Just to answer a resoration question on my last post....no problems restoring as I bought her this way. The only problems were that she sat for three years in a barn and some seals dried out and other annoying kinks had to be worked out when I started running her again. For $1500 I guess it was all worth it. She plows snow like a 4 wheel drive new IH!!

Not a bad looking tractor, just hauled in an A a month ago from northern wisconsin to St. Paul, with a snow blade and live hydraulics paid 2,940.00 for her great shape, the guy had a piece made to run the pump off the distributer works pretty good pushed some snow with it all ready, she doesn't have the power of the 1100 massey ferguson with the 8 foot snow blower but it works good in the big city..

fenton, that is a fine looking tractor and cheep at $1500 I would say. My Dad bought one at a farm sale about 1953?? not sure what year it was but always thought is was a 1951. They are a gutsy little ( BIG ) tractor. My Dad and Uncle farmed for years with a Super A and an H. They bought an F20 in 1958 to pull a Bush Hog with and used it in the field just as much as the other two. We pulled loaded hay wagons (100 bales), plowed, puled the drill pulled a 50T IHC hay baler( it had a power unit but was heavy ), mowed hay, fed hay. pulled a 100 bushel auger wagon 2 miles one way some times twice a day to the feed mill then out through the mud to hog feeders or the over head in the milk barn. Even did a lot of joy riding on it. Was only turned over onced ( no it wasn't me Dad did it ) I( can only remember Dad over hauling it twice, once was after a hired hand had closed the shutters, they were removed after that. In all from 1951 to 1969 I would guess that tractor had 15000 hrs on it, some hard some easy. It bwas sold to a man that didn't use it much, then in his estate sale a late friend of mine bought it to pull a rake. The last I knew his son still had it but the rear end finally gave up, don't remember Dad ever going it to it. Jim

Fenton: Hard to imagine you actually get snow there with that nice background. Then the Super A sets it off very well. A good buy at $1,500. I'd suggest. You'll like that little tractor more every year. You will love what it will do for and you'll love how it treats your bank account.

I've owned 16 Farmalls from Super A to 1066 in size and at least one from every series from letter through to 66. When it came time to slow down in life, the two little offsets are the ones that stayed around. Just wish I'd kept one of my skidsteers, can't work hard enough or fast enough anymore, to load the trailer behind one of the tractors.

Fenton, You done real good getting that tractor for $1500 !!! You will never get tired of that machine. In answer to Kendogs question, I have about 400 to 500 lbs on the drawbar for traction, and is no problem.

It looks like your Super-A has an old A seat pan. I think Super's had rolled edge seat pans if blank, and doubled-back if upholstered.

How much tongue weight do you support on that tow-
ball? When mine is finished this spring I hope to tow a 16' full dresser fishing boat around ~ 200lb tongue weight.

I have a 100, almost the exact same tractor as that, was given to me and looks like after it was pieced together from several junkers it rolled down a hill and caught fire (hope the feller reads this). BUT everytime I use it I too am amazed at the power it has. It handles a four foot brush hog in anything you can drive it through, and the engine justs runs better. Doesn't idle really smooth but with a load smooths out and purrrs... more load and it barks... (?) Very tough, hard working tractor. Can't wait to get my H past it's resurection. The 100 is too far gone to try and improve past keeping it perking and grinding, have higher aspirations for the H though. Sure like the looks of your Super A, think I'll hang a picture of it in the barn in front of the 100 so it can reminisce, and for other people to tell what it is supposed to look like, in case something falls off. Yes...."Super A" with hydrolics....I quess the plain A's didn't have it. She starts right up in the coldest weather.

For $1,500 you did good. You have also faound out that these new multi thousand dollar tractors can't do anything that a 50 to 60 year old tractor can't do.

You"re right, it is beautiful. It puts mine to shame. You are calling it an A. Its not just an A, it"s a "Super A". Glad you are enjoying your tractor. I do mine. One good thing about mine is, I remember the day very well that it was delivered to our house. It was spring time in 1950 and my Dad bought it new. I was a strong strapping teenager and thought I may get to plow with it, but my Dad thought otherwise and I still had to follow the mule for a few more years. But I have been using it for around 50 years now and still enjoy it.
