Hello, One of my new years resolutions is to spend more time on this website! I am an IH enthusiast with a soft spot for Super A's, Cubs, the newer tractors, and old IH combines. I have a 1941 42R pull-type that I am gradually restoring. I cut two ac. of wheat with it this summer. It has a 4' cut, is pto driven, and has a sacking platform instead of grain tank. (I really, really want to add a tanker to my collection but these old machines are scarse as hen's teeth in eastern NC! Would love to talk with other owners or former owners to swap stories, info, parts, or whatever.

thanks
Al Jones

I have a Model 64 combine of about 1952 vintage. It is in excellant condition and was used and is on the video of the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion at Rollag Minnesota during the 1998 IH expo. It is a tanker and has a Super A engine on it. It is also equiped with flax rolls. It currently has the straight cut attachment on it but I also have the windrow pickup. These older machines are really fun to operate. Brings back lots of memories from the "Olden Days".

I grew up using a 125 and 127. Like you I am also becoming interested in old combines. I don't have any yet. I'm still busy with my tractor craze. (I have 5 of them now) Could you post a note providing the historical sequence of old combine numbers? I would be curious to know the model number and years made.

Okay, My interest only goes back to 1940 with the "small" pull-types. I know the sequence of modle numbers is right:

1940-44= 42R
44-50= 52R
mid fifties= 64
late 50's=76
60's= 80
60's--mid 70's = 82

There was also a model 62 in there with the 42 and 52. Just a "bigger brother."

Al, I just read one of your post (about 4 years late). Do you know the size cut for these models. Or anyone else out there?

I've got a 64 with a grain tank and a c-113 engine that I want to restore to use and I have a line on a 64 with a bagger and a c-60 engine. The tanker 64 has dual wheels on the left side.

Hi Al
We had a 52R a long time ago.I was to little to tie the bags but boy could I switch that lever to go to another bag.Canvas would tear,used fishing line to sew patches on.Motor sat low,would vapor lock in the heat.I remember my Dad,crankin and cussin,crankin and cussin..... yep, the good old days.
