Bullgear removal H

Hello, I had a transmission noise in my H so I ripped it apart and when I was in there I found that the left bull gear has some partially chipped teeth. I need to remove it and have read all the tricks about using the bolt to push the axle out. But can I get the axle off with just removing the end retainer, closest to the wheel? This is a completely costum H. The guy I bought it from took an H and put a huge steel frame on it and put a truck front end on it. Then to top it off he put on a 72" inch bucket loader on it. So because of this it makes it really hard to pull the brake covers off to remove the bull pinion. SO to recap... Can I pull the axle out without removing axle assembly with it?

Thank You, Daniel

Thank you... I was thinking the axle should pull right out but it is nice to know before I start doing it.

The axel will come out of without removing the axel housing. Just pull the piece that is on the outer end of the axel and the bolt and washer that holds the inside end of the axel at the bull gear. The wheel will need to be removed too. The axel should push out of the bull gear. It's been some time since I did that procedure but I think that's all there is to it.

Hope this helps, Bob
