Hydraulic Fence Post Driver

Has anyone seen a reasonably priced hydraulic fence post driver that can be powered by the tractor's hydraulic system. I have seen air-powered ones that run about $450, but nothing in that price range for a hydraulic unit. I want to use it to drive steel t-poles.

Has anybody ever built such a unit? If so, would you please email be drawings, pictures, or what ever you have to show what you did?

Thanks for the help.

I am a fencing contractor, and have used a Danhuser driver, and a Shaver for a long time on T post the work great,I have mine mounted on 3pt on a M IH with 2 guys we average 100 post drove in a little over 1 hour in heavy clay, saves a lot wear on the old body.I would sell the shaver driver for 350 dollars. If you have a skid loader you can convert impact jackhammer to drive pipe or T post works better than any driver made.6608386212

Years ago we got a 3-point-hitch Shaver on an auction sale. We have to put the return hydraulic hose end into the Hy-Tran filler hole. Be careful to keep your hand out of the way!

I have used a hydraulic driver, Worksaver, to drive pipe for corners.I have done miles of barb wire fencing. I tried using it for T post, it was to much of a hassle to do by myself. I did have help on occasion and drove them with driver, but really preferred to do it by hand.

We have a Farmall 200 which has a 2pt hitch converted to 3pt. Son and I were busy building a pasture for the sheep last summer, using the tractor with a "worksaver" on the 3pt. We were using a hand driver, and the work was going slow, noisy and hard on hands, arms, and shoulders. I commented to son that they did make hydraulic post drivers for tractors. Almost together we said, "That thing has down pressure!" took us only a few minutes to get a chain, and using post driver and 3pt hitch, we had a makeshift post driver. Speeded up the process a little, but major improvement was in the effort invloved in driving those posts!

Doug:

I build a little fence on the side. I use a Shaver #8 to drive my wood posts, and I use a hand driver on the steeel T posts. It just takes to long to move the tractor.

T posts are easily driven by hand driver. The one that is like a piece of pipe with one end closed and handles on the sides works best. Probably easier then repositioning a tractor for each one.

Steel T posts are easy to drive with a loader. If one is not available it should be easy to link any tractor with hydraulics to something that will press them into the ground.

One of my co-worker's rented one of those driver's. He used it to drive in wooden posts. I think they were Locust posts and he drove a heck of lot of posts in one day.

They don't work too good in rocky soil. My neighbor had problem with rocks on his farm. Hal
