More Hydro Stuff

So,

I pull the side cover, the pipe, the reverse check valve plug and the forward regulator. All seem just fine.

However, that control cam/variable orifice waffer seems awfully sloppy against the pump servo.

Should that thing have 3/16" of sideways slop to it? Just doesn't seem right. The whole control business seems excessively sloppy. How would it ever seal?

Am I on the right track or should I button 'er up and haul it to town?

Thanks,

Allan

Allan, that cam is what most questions on the garden tractor board on hydros are about and your's would just be a bigger version ( I have never seen a full size Hydro tractor). I have a IHC Cub Cadet 129 that has the same problem in that cam is wore, should be no play and a shock absorbing spring in there that could be broke. Just go to the other board and reserch hydro

Hmmm....., there"s got to be something in there that"s causing the problem. Heck if I know what it is, but if it was me I"d keep poking around in there. I would agree about the main components since it pulls like nuts in reverse.

Thanks for the peek in there! That"ll save me the bother of going out and getting my own Hydro just to see! LOL!

Hi Paul,

I got an email from a really nice feller last night who says I'm on the right track; just the wrong side of the tractor.

I just assumed it would be the forward pressure relief valves that chew themselves up. He said no, it is the directional check valves that go south and that my symptom wouldn't be caused by a relief anyway.

Well, wouldn't ya know it? The forward check valve is located in behind the darned hydraulic pump on the other side of the tractor! :>(

Geeze, might as well keep going, I guess; 'taint worth a darn this way. So, as soon as it gets light out, that silly hydraulic pump is comin' outta there and I'm goin' fishin' fer that leak!

We'll see what we shall see. :>)
