Dear friends, Lately I have been looking at the 460 and 560 I like the features of the '60 models and I also like the size, sort of in the middle. If I was to perchase one, which is the nicer one to run?? Personal opinions and experiences welcome!!

Thanks

If you need the 60 HP get the 560. If all you need is the 45 to 50 HP of the 460 get a Farmall 400. If you get a 400 with the fast hitch and power steering you get all the 460 can do plus a bigger frame and better fuel economy.

560 D's are nice tractors. I am sure I will get one w/ fast hitch one of these days.

I have both they both handle the same but the 560 is a heavier tractor and more power. My 460 is a gas and the 560 is diesel,my diesel starts fine because it's in good shape good batteries, glow plugs and compression. When cold 30 or below I plug it in.But nothing wrong with the 460 either both have fast hitches which are handy.

I can only speak to the 560 diesel we used to have. It was a great tractor for mowing and baling, planting etc. We didn't use it for heavy tillage too much since we had bigger tractors. Guess your decision should be based on how much HP you may need. We had more than we needed for the lighter work and the diesel would purr all day long and I'm not sure we even had to refuel until the end of the day. However, the diesel is horrible to start if it gets below 30-40 degrees. And it is not real handy to get on and off of it.

if you go with a 560 try to get a 560d with a blower, we had both a 460d and a 560d when we farmed and the 560d by far had more power and started a heck of a lot better, when we quite farming we kept the 460 and let the 560 go. It is a mistake we still regret. The 460 is a great tractor, just not near the power. Both are great and very useful, you will be happy either way

Only difference is the 560 has more power. You can get a 460 or 560 at a farm sale with fast hitch for 1500 to 2500 for a real good one
