I just purchased a 49 Cub. It had been changed to run a 12 volt negative ground, but the guy I bought it from was converting it back to the original 6 volt positive ground. He had not finished the wiring. I am trying to figure out the voltage regulator or (cut out). It is mounted on the generator and has three terminals. One marked L, one BAT, and one F. All the diagrams I find either show 4 terminals with the fourth marked GEN or else if there are just three. One is marked GEN instead of the L on my regulator. I have checked in several places and the regulator I have is the one for a generator mounted 6 volt, positive ground CUB. Is the L terminal on mine the same as the GEN terminal on the wiring diagrams.

Try it this way. All you will need to do is copy and paste.

I noticed it was not in blue when I looked at my link, but when I went to reply, the link was accessable.
So after you go to reply check and see if my link is in blue, if so it will then work for you...

You were right. When I went to reply it changed to blue and I got your link fine. Thanks alot. I had noticed my voltage regulator had a terminal underneath, but it was not labled as anything. According to the diagram on page 34 of the manual you refered to, this terminal underneath is the GEN terminal if I am reading it right.

Bat terminal should connect to wire coming from ammeter. F terminal should connect to F terminal on generator. Arm terminal should connect to armature terminal on generator. The L terminal[lights or load] was not connected on most tractors. Some were. If aux. lighting or other accessories were added, this terminal was used. Be certain to obtain a good ground between regulator frame, generator frame, and battery ground[ tractor frame].

My manual shows that L goes to charge indicator.

I sure appreciate your reply, but was unable to get the web address for the CUB manuals on-line. Could you send that again. I would sure like to have it. I bought and IT manual for the CUB but it is no help with the electrical. Thanks again.

For some reason, links posted to the "Farmall" section of this site don't show up functionally in the posts, viewed in expanded form.

Here's a link, I will post it here, so you can copy and paste it, and post it below as a link, and see if it works in this post:

Nope, didn't work forme, either! You'll have to do it the hard way!

I am going to post this over on Tractor Talk, to see if the link will "take" there.
